Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS)

Founded 140 years ago, WHS is the largest humane society in Wisconsin and one of the largest in the United States. They currently manage five shelters and a foster network, looking after 230-250 dogs. Among the services provided by WHS are dog training classes; reward-based dog training has been offered at their campuses for about 20 years, although not consistently due to a very high turnover in dog trainers. Dogs Trust USA is supporting WHS by covering the salary of an in-house Behavior and Training Specialist for a year, which will allow WHS to continue offering both group training classes, as well as private consultations for adopters and other members of the community at their facilities in Milwaukee.
