A dog is for life, not just for the holidays

Charleston Animal Society

Charleston Animal Society (CAS) in South Carolina was founded 145 years ago and is the only designated public open admission shelter with a municipal contract in Charleston County, taking in nearly 10,000 stray, ill, injured, abused and unwanted animals each year.

‘Pets For Life’ is a nationwide community outreach model which targets underserved neighbourhoods that would otherwise have no access to veterinary services.

Dogs Trust USA is supporting Charleston Animal Society’s ‘Pets For Life’ program in The City of North Charleston which will aim to provide spay/neuter surgeries, rabies vaccinations and microchipping services for 384 dogs over a period of 12 months. The project’s overarching goal will be to see a 10% reduction in dogs 6 months in age or younger entering their shelter from within the city limits of North Charleston following the project.
